Who is jesus?

We all have questions about who God is. Is God real? Is what we know about Him really true? What does God have to do with my life?

The Bible may not answer every question about God - and could even lead us to ask more - but one area in the Bible that is quite definite is the answer to the question: who is Jesus?

Peter confesses that Jesus is "the Messiah, the Son of the Living God" (Matthew 16:16). Because Jesus knew who He was - and what He could be to us, He has the power to change our lives. Jesus is so unique because two worlds collide in Him: Heaven and Earth; the divine and the human.

Yes, Jesus' name is the name above all names, and His star-breathing, storm-calming, way-making, miracle-working power is second to none. Yet, He is also the human Jesus, the personal friend who knows every detail about our lives and cares about us. That's why the Bible also calls Him "Immanuel", God with us.

JEsus Cares for us

Does Jesus really care about you? Yes, He does! How do we know?

We often disqualify ourselves from the love of God because of our past, our failures, and our shortcomings. Sin separated us from God and we can never do anything to make up for our sin.

How can we receive what we have not earned? The Bible says that nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. And to accept God's love is to trust His patient, forgiving, and gracious stance towards us. Only Jesus has the power to free us from shame, guilt, and condemnation, to give us a life of wholeness. God never looks at the person's past, but at the person. He chose us before we chose Him. All we have to do is accept Him.

A New Beginning

To be made whole, or to be saved, is to submit to God and His purpose and plan for our lives. It is turning from our old ways and turning to Jesus, asking Him for forgiveness from our sins and giving us new life in Him.

Romans 10:9 says: "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Salvation is God's free gift to us and we get to be a part of His family.

The gift is an irrevocable acceptance into His family and it empowers us to live life wholly and fully while reflecting God to the rest of His creation.

If you are not sure you are right with God or you know that you need Jesus in your life, you can choose to follow Him right now by praying a prayer of surrender to Him.

Dear Jesus, I'm praying this prayer because I know I have done wrong by living without You. I am sorry and I trust that You will forgive me. I accept Your love and grace for me and ask that You would be my Lord. Help me believe in You and love You every day moving forward. Lord, help me to show the world who You are and how great Your love is.

In Jesus' name, amen.

I have accepted Jesus! Now What?

Congratulations for accepting Jesus. You have made the best decision of your entire life! The Bible says that when even one person accepts Jesus, there is a party thrown in heaven for that person.

How do I start my relationship with Jesus? Here are some ways to help you get started.

01 FIND A BIBLE THAT YOU CAN UNDERSTAND

There are thousands of versions to choose from. Find one that you can understand and start reading. A great

place to start reading is in the Book of James.

02 FIND A CHURCH FAMILY/COMMUNITY

God never intends for us live life alone. We encourage you to find a church home that you can connect well

with. You are always welcome to be a part of the ELC family and we would love to have you come visit one

Sunday at 10:00a at Lynn Haven Elementary.

03 FIND TIME WITH JESUS DAILY

Just like any relationship that we have, it takes time to know someone. We encourage you to find a time that

works best for you (about 15mins.) and spend that time getting to know Jesus. The way you do that is by

reading the Bible and praying. Prayer is just having a conversation with God.

We want to celebrate with you and your decision to follow Jesus. Send us your name and let us know at info@elevationlifechurch.com
